高足杯是一种受蒙古族文化影响、极具时代特征的器物。高足杯下承以高足若把柄，故俗称“把杯”。其功用为盛装蒙古贵族喜爱的奶酪、马奶，甚至是“忽迷思”（用马乳制作的酒），即当奶杯、酒杯使用，元贵族使用的金银器也多以高足杯形式出现。高足杯堪称元代最流行的实用器具，因其便于端拿，朝鲜的汉语教科书《朴通事谚解》称其为“上马杯儿”。
