美国动画的黄金时代随着1928年有声漫画的诞生而到来，一直持续到1967年。那之后，播放周六早间卡通的新电视动画节目的势头开始超过戏剧动画短片。

The golden age of American animation began with the advent of sound cartoons in the 1928 and continued until 1967 when theatrical animated shorts began losing to the new programming of television animation with Saturday-morning cartoons. During the “golden age” many of America’s popular animated characters appeared, including Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, Daffy Duck, Goofy, Popeye, Tom and Jerry, Porky Pig, Woody Woodpecker and Droopy. The golden age also saw the first animated adaption of Superman and feature length animation movies. One of the best known American Animators of the golden age was Walter Elias "Walt" Disney (1901–1966). He was a pioneer of the American animation industry and cartoons were his favorite. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which premiered in December 1937, was the first animated feature produced by Walt Disney Productions. Disney was also among the first to use television as an entertainment medium too. The company he co-founded is one of the largest and best-known entertainment companies in the world today.
