我祝贺周根宝同志画展开幕!

　　我和周根宝先生认识已有三十多年了，那时他在上海博物馆临摹古画，一头扎进传统堆里，一画就是近廿年。馆藏的古典精髓，如孙位的《高逸图》;范宽的《雪麓早行图》;赵佶的《柳芽芦雁图》;及“明四家”、“清四家”、“八大”、“石涛”等中国美术史上的大师经典之作，他都有机会零距离接触。

　　而后他又负笈去了西方，在世界艺术之窗的纽约生活了近二十年。期间还游历了欧洲许多著名的艺术殿堂，浸淫在毕加索、马蒂斯、康定斯基、米罗等西方大师的绘画作品之中。从中汲取养料，反复地尝试着，使自己的中国绘画作品与之发生冲撞。今天，我们所看到的他那些戏曲人物画作品，正是这种探索的难能之果。

　　戏曲人物画是中国绘画的一个特殊品种，它不似山水花鸟有着辉煌的过去。前辈画家林风眠、关良等都在这个领域卓有成就。特别是关良先生，更是开创了用水墨形式来描绘中国戏曲的先河。但周根宝作为后继者，他并没有简单地重复前辈们的形式与技巧，同样是“野猪林”;同样是“游园惊梦”，在周根宝的画中有了新的诠释。

　　传统的中国画有着很深的涵养，它的艺术语言经过数千年的积淀，发展到今天，使得每前进一步都是十分的艰难。作为一个画家，追求艺术上的创新，笔墨上的突破，是梦寐以求的。

　　周根宝现在正在做这件事，我衷心祝愿他，在漫漫的艺术苦旅中，走出一条自己的道路!

　　Mr.ZhouGenBao,whom I have known for more than thirty years, at the time where he assumed his post at the Shanghai museum copying paintings a picture for nearly 20 years on the collection of the classical essence, such as” High Escape,"FanKuan"SnowyWest",ZhaoJi"LiuYaLuYan"and"Ming four,"as well as masterpieces such as” Qing Eight Home,” these masters of fee Chinese classical artistic history, at that time he had no chance to distance himself from his work. Upon moving to the windows of the art world in New York, travels to Europe to the most famed halls immersing himself in Picasso,Matisse,Kandinsky,MiLu and other western master,therefore incorporating western influences we can witness the fruits of his fusion with Chinese culture,art,Traditional Opera

　　It takes a special breed of artist to make Opera figure painting is the Chinese murals;with its landscape of fIora and founa,its past is glorious. Senior artists such as LinFengMian,in this field have enjoyed success, he was especially important in the styles devetopment,pioneering the use of ink painting form to depict Chinese opera precedent ZhouGenBao as a formidable successor, did not simply repeat pride censor from and skills, as depicted in "YeZhuLin,"also is” a garden surprised dream”, Zhou Gunboat, in his paintings, he developed new interpretation altogether.

　　The traditional Chinese paintings have a deep cultivation, its artistic language over” thousands of years of accumulation, evolving to this day make every step forward an ongoing process. As a painter, the pursuit of artistic innovation, pen and ink breakthroughs are the dream.ZhouGenBao now has accomplished this, I express my best wishes for him on his destiny's path!
