Pan's style of painting is very colorful and exciting. It is his personal language and holds a mix of the East and the West. Like all abstract art it is hard to describe. His paintings are abstract but have subtle elements of landscape in them. Some have geometric shapes and some appear to be filled with beautifully colored clouds. It is very powerful work and yet gentle at the same time. It is strong enough to carry a large wall but it is never busy. The paintings are simply beautiful and you just want to look at them forever. Pan believes his painting appeal to people because he paints from his heart.
Pan's early work contained primarily geometric shapes with dimension. The colors were harsh, mostly reds and black. Now he believes they depict the struggles he was experiencing at the time. He had so much to learn‚so much more to experience and a powerful desire to succeed.
The rule of thumb is that artists are not really ripe until they are well into their 40's. Pan says this is true for him. Before 40 his mind was not clear‚not adequate‚he was still searching‚still asking himself‚〝What kind of artist do I want to be?〞He remembers often saying to himself‚〝next time I will do better〞 and never feeling that any of his paintings were really finished.
He was always looking for more information about art‚culture‚different kinds of people‚searching for inspiration. It was as if there was more to come outside for him to be complete.
The last few years have brought him tremendous inner peace.
When he finishes a painting he sets it aside for two weeks then takes a look at it with new eyes. He looks at it from all directions and if it needs something he does it and sets it aside again. He doesn't let it leave his studio until it is truly finished. Now he knows how to do that.
