Born in Santa Monica California, Athena Mantle lived in Southern California until the age of 8 when her family packed up and moved to a sleepy beach town. She spent the next ten years on the Gulf Coast of Florida growing up.

Always an independent spirit, Athena returned to Los Angeles to be charmed by the desert landscape and discover her love for painting.

Inspired by the plants and landscapes that she brings to life in her work, she enjoys transforming her subjects into playful dances of color.

Athena’s artistic journey began as a child who loved to draw. Encouraged by a friend, she continued her education at Mission: Renaisssance in Los Angeles.

In 1994 she became an art instructor, and began teaching children and adults to draw and paint. Today painting full-time, she now lives in Dunedin, Florida where water is abundant and the air is fresh!
