The 2008 Olympics provide an enduring source of inspiration for Chinese artists. In Anxi County of southeast China's Fujian Province, a calligrapher is giving some animation to the conventionally sedate art of calligraphy - by combining it with sports.
In a central park, visitors are attracted to a series of installations. There are 81 jigsaw structures resembling athletes competing in different sports: running, fencing, swimming and the javelin toss. What makes them special is that the jigsaw boards contain Chinese calligraphy.
The color and style of the calligraphy differs from piece to piece. There are imitations of ancient masterpieces from different eras, spanning more than 2,000 years from the Qin Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty.
The creator of the installations is a local calligrapher Yi Shufeng. He calls his work " Endless Sports". It took Yi a year to finish the entire work.
