一个艺术家会莫名地被某些形态吸引,然后第一时间凭直觉把它擒拿,之后才慢慢试图把这种直觉合理化,甚至为其找寻合适的理由。
中国版图上有两大疆域:黑龙江和新疆,广阔的边疆给我带来了无穷的营养。胸中灵气剪成云,龙江南北化胸怀。我将这里的神秘与肥美,用深沉的色彩揭示,大自然幽深的境域,作为创作的想象被展现了出来。
冬天“江疆”大地静谧空灵,纯净悠旷的结构把寂静、质朴、野性、神秘的黑、白、灰录入了背景,有动物出现,也有人影闪动。恍然间发现树隙之间有一抹斜照的暖光,带着一份宁静笼罩着我的身心。《寂寞如雨》、《心灵的慰藉》、《傲雪》、《潜伏》等系列创作由此开始……
我的内心较为复杂,多次出访,穿行边疆感受异域今昔,我意识到艺术不能有太严格的地域界限。画家应该将其升华。从艺术创作来说,今昔是比较的文化,是历史的文献,是人为的。异域的风貌能增强我对创作的喜悦。异域才是我需要的。
Borderland
An artist may be suddenly attracted by some certain forms for no reason. Then he would immediately follow his instinct to capture the forms. Afterwards, he will try to rationalize and justify such instinct.
Heilongjiang Province and Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region are two important territories of China. The broad borderlands fill me with abundant inspiration and spiritual nourishment. The depth and width of the lands have effectively furthered the depth and width of the mind. I try to reveal the sense of mystery and fertility by the use of dark colors. The serenity and sense of inclusiveness of the nature are uncovered in the form of imagination.
In winter, lands in these two regions appear to be extremely quiet and spacious, integrating loneliness, tranquility, simplicity, wildness, blackness, whiteness, greyness, and figures of animals and humans together. The sight of a ray of warm sunshine piercing the leaves is soothing and comforting. That's the beginning of the series of As Lonely As The Rain, Spiritual Consolation, Snow and Undercover.
Each time I visit the borderlands I would have some different and complicated feelings. It helps me realize that art can never be defined by geographical boundaries. Painters need to work on sublimation. For art creation, it's more and more about comparing different cultures. Being exotic enhances the joy of art creation. And that's what I need.
