左正尧的陶艺,多追求质朴的泥土气息,而远离技术制品的工艺感。挂盘作品以鱼纹为母题,质粗而釉色浓重,风格强悍,在做法上刻与画相结合,使人想起汉代的瓦当和画像砖石,具有一种建筑风格,而毫无常见挂盘的柔弱装饰性。在现代房间里,悬置这样的陶盘可以壮人心神,带来大自然的声息,比起那些模仿金属感,以五光十色的绚丽效果炫人耳目的陶艺制品,不是更令人有泥火之思么?

Zuo Zhengyao’s ceramic art often pursue the modest soil breath instead of the craftwork feeling of technical production. The ceramic plate has used fish pattern as its motif, its texture is tough and glaze heavy; which reminds us of the carving eaves tile and relief in the Han Dynasty. His work is of architectural style that is far from the nature of soft decoration the ordinary ceramic plates have. Imagining we have such a plate in a modern room, it should inspire us, bring to us the breath of nature and make us think of the clay and fire, should not?
