One of the most celebrated and revered American artists working today, Chuck Closerecently unveiled an exhibition of brand new paintings, prints, and tapestries at Culver City’sBlum and Poe.  This is Close’s first solo show with the blue chip gallery and according to them, it “represents the most significant body of work assembled in Los Angeles in sixteen years.”

The spectacular exhibition, which occupies the gallery’s entire first floor, provides ample evidence of the artist’s masterful skills as a painter, photographer, and printmaker and demonstrates his stylistic range and diverse technical abilities.  Although the sight of Close’s signature grid lines may indicate the use of a digital or mechanical process, all of the works are made by hand.  The portraits depict such friends and associates as Zhang Huan, Kara Walker, Paul Simon, Laurie Anderson, and Agnes Gund.
