吴强成长于孕育了周秦汉唐灿烂文化的黄土高原，受过长安画派的熏陶；在文人荟萃的北京就学和创业；毕业于中央工艺美术学院装璜系，经过工艺美术设计的训练，在生活、文化、学问上集腋成裘的积累都反映在他的作品中，溶八方水源而不拘一格。

　　气韵为中国画之圭臬，中国画“缘物寄情”，吴强的作品充满生活，充满情趣。他笔下之山川江河、鸟虫花卉皆生气盎然，即古茂又清新，有传统之根而无泥古之痕。

　　现代科学技术的发展一日千里，触及人类生活的各个层次，包括绘画和设计。吴强脚踏实地的创立北京展视会社，在商业美术设计领域内将绘画与工艺和电脑结合在一起，学以致用，为经济建设服务。能够在美术绘画和工艺设计两个领域内驾轻就熟，挥洒自如而建树者不多，吴强自是其中佼佼者。

　　加拿大A&A画廊非常荣幸地邀请吴强来这枫叶之国展览他的新作，介绍中国中青年画家在艺术上的探索和成绩。这次展览无疑对中加两国文化交流和对促进加拿大艺术家对中国现代艺术的了解大有裨益。我与吴强在七十年代末曾同窗于北京中央工艺美术学院，在他即将来加展览之际，衷心祝愿他展览成功!

　　Wu Qiang, brought up on the Loess Plateau where the brilliant cultures were nurtured of the Zhou, Plan and Tang dynasties, studied and started his own business in 8eijfng upon his graduation from the Decoration & Design Department of the Central Academy of Arts and Design. Having been trained with arts and design, he established his own painting style of wide versatility characterised with what be has gained from his life experience, cultural and academic backgrounds. The fla~our is the real core of Chinese paintings characterised with "expressing feetings by depicting objects." His works are energetic with life and emotion, depicting objects ranging from mountains and rivers to birds, insects and flowers. They look ancient and refreshing, and have the traditional origin but without the trace of earthly antiquity.

　　The modern science and technotogy are developing at a very fast pace, influencing every aspect of human daily lives, including paintings and designs. With steady efforts, he established his business --- Beijing Exhibition & Visual Arts Corporation, He combines paintings and crafts with computer in terms of commercial arts and design and practices with learning. In this field, he bas demonstrated hie talent and has made outstanding achievements. He is among the very few who gained success ill both.

　　It is the honour of A&A Gallery to invite Mr. Wu Qiang to exhibit his lastest painting works in the country of mapple leaves, and to demonstrate the artistic explorations and achievements of the Chinese young and middle-aged painters. I am sure that tbe exhibition will not only benefit the promotion of Sino-Canadian cultural exchange, but also hetp Canadian artists have better understanding of Chinese modern arts. As the schoolmate of Mr. Wu Qiang in the Central Academy of Arts & Design in the late 1970s, i, on the occasion of his coming tour, would like to wish him a great success.
