33 items of traditional art from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will be added to China's National Intangible Heritage List which was created in 2006. The latest round of nominations brings the number of items on the list to 551.
Most of the 33 items are ethnic music, including folk songs and traditional instrumental performances.
But there are also items from traditional sports, such as the Horse Ball popular with Tajik ethnic communities.
Other categories of folk art also received attention, including Uygur embroidery and costumes.
Xinjing Uygur Mukam Music has already been recognized by the UNESCO as "Masterpieces of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity".
