Dedicated to Promoting Chinese Culture

2016-03-14 08:55

Energetic and inventive Shanghai Jingcui Artworks Development Co Ltd is continuing to throw its support behind the Olympic movement with a series of exceptional donations of artwroks. Last October, to support the 2007 Special Olympic World Summer Games in Shanghai, Jingcui presented 20 embroidery artworks worth 800,000 yuan (US$113,000) to the Special Olympics executive committee. The glamorous pieces of art - created using a special traditional Chinese technique - were handed over to the committee at a grand ceremony. Wang Wei, deputy secretary-general of the committee, was high in his praise of Jingcui for its generous donation. "The donation shows Jingcui's support for the Special Olympics. It is not just about public welfare. It sets a great example to the community as a whole," Wang said. The Information Office of the Shanghai government also praised the donation and more than 10 media outlets - including Jiefang Daily, Wenhui Daily and Xinmin Evening News - covered the story. Jingcui also designed and donated more than 20,000 gifts to athletes and volunteers, which proved extremely popular. But now Jingcui, having done its bit for the Special Olympics, has set its sights on this year's Beijing Olympic Games. In a show of great generosity, Jingcui plans to donate 220 embroidery artworks valued at almost nine million yuan to the organizing committee for the Beijing Olympic Games.
These exceptional pieces of embroidery will be presented to delegations from all over the world as a special gift to promote China's national essence to the world. Since it takes a very long time to complete these hand-made embroidery artworks - requiring sophisticated techniques and skill - Jingcui employed 60 professional needlewomen last September to work on them. The works will be ready by June in plenty of time for the opening of the Beijing Games on August 8. To promote China's national essence, Jingcui has also published an impressive album of paintings titled "Famed in APEC - A Collection of Liu Linghua's Paintings." More than 200 celebrities including Yang Zigang, deputy commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Xue Yongxing, director of Xinhua news agency's Hong Kong branch, attended the ceremony to launch the album in Hong Kong on December 18, 2007. The album was inaugurated by Liu Jian, deputy secretary of Party Committee of Shanghai Culture, Radio, Film and Television Administration, along with Zhang Guoliang, director of Hong Kong's Wenhui newspaper. To further promote Chinese culture to the world, Jingcui donated thousands of the luxurious albums to more than 1,700 cultural organizations and institutions including museums, art galleries, libraries, universities and news agencies in about 200 hundred countries. Media reports of the donations were glowing. They highlighted how Jingcui, a private art enterprise, had invested enormous human, material and financial resources into publishing the painting albums. They also underlined how the paintings were aimed at expanding the influence of Chinese culture around the world and promoting cultural exchanges between China and other countries. They also will be presented given to delegations from all over the world at this year's Beijing Olympic Games.
