Known as a founder of modern dance, Isadora Duncan was an innovator in the field of dance. She danced barefoot with loose hair to formal orchestral music. She created evenings of dance that were focused on dance alone – performing both outside and in blank spaces where the dance was the centerpiece of the evening. She was known as a free-spirit and revolutionary despite the fact that her dances and concerts were tightly choreographed.
