因清代以來經歷了多場戰爭，珍稀的光緒元寶損失嚴重，至今，江西省造數量已經極其有限，它所代表的不僅僅是金錢，還有光緒年間的經濟情况，其後，各省紛紛仿效，購制國外機械鑄造，這也使得使光緒元寶沾染上西方色彩。
