展览介绍:
“夫优美与壮美,皆使吾人离生活之欲,而入于纯粹之知识者……故眩惑之于美,如甘之于辛,火之于水,不相并立者也。”
——王国维,1904
审美有两种方式,一种是优美,一种是壮美。是我们在面对审美对象时,所产生的宁静或是超拔的情绪反应。此外,还有另一种审美形式——“眩惑”,与优美壮美不同,反而是完全被审美对象所吸引、所幻惑、不能自拔。这就是王国维所谓“艺术的眩惑性”,艺术的价值最终体现在使人脱离欲望的苦海,臻达澄明朗彻的审美至境。
《眩惑》群展由朱雀画廊馆长左业勤和著名艺术家关伟共同策划,囊括了五位处于不同职业生涯阶段,实践不同艺术风格的优秀艺术家的作品。其中包括了最具辨识度的华裔艺术家关伟,新工笔的领衔人物金沙,澳洲当代艺术先驱者Tim Johnson,当代水墨践行者、南开大学教授杨喜发和90后第二代华裔艺术家Louise Zhang。
这几位艺术家都具有移民背景或是多地生活和工作的经验,在不断地与异文化、异族群的接触中,在母文化与它文化和多元文化的碰撞中,分解与融合,艺术家以非常积极主动的实践策略介入新的现实,建立起一个“眩惑”式的美学奇观。
此次展览的作品,从东方神秘主义、哲学思想,到俏皮鲜艳的怪诞主题,将是一场关于迷幻美学的饕餮盛宴,给我们带来与以往完全不同的视觉感受。
开幕嘉宾
非常荣幸,此次的《眩惑》将由澳洲新南威尔士大学艺术与设计学院Advisory Council主席、著名艺术法律师、收藏家Shane Simpson(AM)开幕。
Shane Simpson是UNSW Foundation和Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composers'House Trust的董事,同时也是澳大利亚艺术法律中心和辛普森律师事务所的创始人。
Shane Simpson曾出版过很多著作,包括《视觉艺术家与法律》、《音乐商业》、《收藏法:澳大利亚档案馆、画廊、图书馆和博物馆的法律问题》。近期,他受澳洲政府委托,进行一项关于保护可移动文化遗产的独立考察《文化的边界》。
Shane Simpson被授予澳大利亚员佐勋章(AM),以表彰他在知识产权和娱乐法领域推动了法律和艺术事业的发展,以及在一系列文化组织中所做出的杰出贡献。

Charming Confusion
Charming Confusion showcases astounding art personally curated by leading artist Guan Wei and Vermilion Art Director Yeqin Zuo.
The line-up includes Australia's leading contemporary artist Tim Johnson, contemporary Gong Bi(traditional Chinese painting technique) leading artist Jin Sha,Gen-Y artist Louise Zhang, Chinese-ink painter Yang Xifa and the well-established Guan Wei himself.
Be transported between oriental mysticism,philosophical thinking,to playful colours of grotesque inspiration, Charming Confusion is an experience of an aesthetic responses on contemplating a work of art. These five artists all have the experience of living and working in different countries. In their interactions and collisions with new cultures and ethnic groups, they continue to experience separateness and assimilation. These artists all have taken an active and experimental approach to the artistic exploration of their new environment. And they have achieved a Charming Confusion.
Opening Speaker
Shane Simpson is a director of the UNSW Foundation and the Peggy GlanvilleHicks Composers' House Trust. He was the founder of the Arts Law Centre of Australia and Simpsons Solicitors.
He is the author of many books including ‘Visual Artists and the Law', Music Business', and ‘Collections Law: Legal Issues for Australian Archives, Galleries, Libraries and Museums'. Most recently he was commissioned by the Australian Government to conduct an independent review of the protection of movable cultural heritage: "Borders of Culture".
He was appointed Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for "service to the law and to the arts through leading roles in intellectual property and entertainment law, and as a contributor to a range of cultural organisations."
