柏林，一个甘愿默默无闻的名字，54年出生，十几岁去云南当兵，四川美院78级毕业。柏林的个人符号特别明显：光头、大胡须，衣襟宽大、开朗爽直。后知此人涉足国画，油画，雕塑等专业，堪称画界多面手。他善讲故事，时隔多年我已记不清其中细节，只觉得故事中有玄妙，就跟他整个人一样令我着迷。

    柏林大我14岁，在画坛、影界很有才气。吾与之神交20年，20年风风雨雨，20年兄弟情义，20年淡泊名利。茫茫人海，缘分就在一瞬之间。一路走来，我们从陌生到熟悉，从熟悉到知心，从知心到默契。纵观大哥的朋友，上至达官学究，下至街边脚夫，他皆不拒人门外。于是，我和他结义成兄弟，像读一本书一样，孜孜以求，读着他的故事，越发想挖掘着他的特异和另类。二十年后，我发现我的精神与生活情趣也为之一变。

    而今，藏锋30载的柏林终于要出山了。这一期盼终于成了现实。我常常沉浸在他的艺术意境中，也希望更多的人能够领会到他的精神境界。

  “十年磨一剑”，三十年不仅丰满了一个男人的艺术技艺，更使这个男人清楚了他需要选择怎样的人生，这支画笔应该落在怎样的节点上，才足以表达他对这个世界的理解。

    读柏林，每一页都那么精彩，让你舍不得离开：他身上太多年少轻狂的故事：沿街乞丐、横穿神龙、插草卖身、商海沉浮、独闯西北。每一个故事，都令我惊叹，每一步都是圈内圈外的一段传奇。 无论经历和做派，他都那么自由不拘，活在无拘无束的散仙般的世界里。不成规矩，也没有方圆；不触类、也旁通。画画、雕塑、书法、篆刻那是因为艺术相融；玩电脑、修家电、裁衣服、做皮鞋也可以信手拈来。

    艺术离不开生活，他用智慧空性行走在大千世界，纵观世界的斑斓，探究形色背后的人生和故事。柏林深知一个只知金钱而不知艺术的人可怜，所以三十年来他的画从不出售。他用速写日记描写世俗眼中的财、色、名、食、睡等五欲，记录生活馈赠给艺术家的瞬间顿悟，于是有了《面皮》的问世。一百幅人面，一百种欲望，一百个故事，一百段探悟，这是一种简明、直接、质朴的众生对话。这是不求巧、不求媚，但求每一笔浸润的丹青尽可能单刀直入把握精髓，墨简意赅。引领观者走近人物内心，在返璞归真的写意中去关注每个人欲望与追求的缘起。

    我与柏林，不近不远，保持着距离，又被深深吸引。他特立独行的个性和传奇般的人生阅历，以及水墨丹青呈现给我的多彩世界像磁石般吸引着我。

    有一种回味如美酒，有一种情义如大地，有一种兄弟见生死。今日，大哥柏林出山，成就斐然，有诗为证：

渝州本有旷世才，风雨兼程数十载；

川美练得好手笔，缙云大隐伴山苔；

今朝出山展雄风，道如云天艺如海。

The elder brother in my eyes: Bo Lin

Bo Lin, an unknown name to the public,was born in 1954. He became a soldier inYunnan Province as a teenager, and later graduated from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1978. Bo Lin has evident individual symbols: bald head, big beard, oversized clothes, cheerful and outgoing personalities. He involves in traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, sculpture and others; thus, he is absolutely a very versatile person. He is also good at telling stories. Although I do not remember story details after many years, still I feel it is a mysterious story, which fascinates me as much as his charisma.

Bo Lin is 14 years elder than me and has a big influence in painting and film industry. We have been friends for 20 years, gone through 20 years’ difficulties, and lived 20 years’ simple life. Fate is an instant bond between us. As time goes by, our friendship start from unfamiliar till become familiar, later become close friends and eventually become unspoken consensus. Bo Lin has a wide range of friends of governors and scholars even very kind to street porters. In fact he never keeps people out . Our brotherhood allows me to read his life like reading a book and to diligently explore his specialties. Twenty years later, I found my spirit and taste of life have changed under his influence.

Finally, Bo Lin is going to have a show and this wish finally comes true. I am often immersed in his artistic conception as well as hoping more people can understand his spirit too.

"Ten years grinds a sword". Thirty years not only strengthens a man's artistic skills but makes him realize what kind of life he needs to choose. Definitely, he knows how he could fully use his brush in order to express his perspective regarding the world.

While reading Bo Lin, you will feel each page is wonderful and makes you obsessed. He has too many young frivolous stories: begging along the street, crossing red lights, involving inprostitution, and struggling through business boom and bust. Each story surprises me and his every step is a legend.

In terms of experience and style, he is so ease and seems to live in a fairytale world. He neither holds any rules nor touches upon other categories. However, he can easily integrate painting, sculpture, calligraphy and seal carving. In a meantime, he plays computer games, repairs home appliance, tailors dresses and fixes shoes.

Art cannot live without life. In this mundane world, with wisdom he travels a lots, observes beautiful colors and explores stories that behind each thing. Bo Lin understands the pity of the man who only fond of money rather than any art. Therefore, he has never sold his paintings for thirty years. He describes the secular world by sketching the desire of money, sex, fame, food and sleep. To record life and artist's inspiration moment, he published Faces. Hundred different people faces, hundred kinds of desires, hundred stories and one hundred segments of realizations. These are all simple and dialogues with beings directly. This is not intended for a clever and flattery artistic form, but for the grasp of the essence of painting and a right and concise point. This approach accesses the inner world of a character, and pays attention to the original desire and pursuit of a person.

Bo Lin and I keep some distance but are attracted to each other. His independence and legendary life experience, as well as his ink paintings present a new world to me, which act as a magnet to hold me.

There is a sweet memory just like after having some good wine, so there is a friendship which is firm and solid as the earth, so there is a brotherhood which can lasting forever. Today, my brother Bo Lin has an exhibition. I wrote a poem to witness his achievement:

 "Congratulation on Bo Lin’s Show":

Yuzhou has a prophetic talent；

He bears decades of trials and hardships.

Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts trained his skills，

But he retreated in Jinyun Mountain.

Now he exhibits his spirit,

It is a cloud of philosophy and a sea of art.
