Informal Comment on Abida

Young Uyghur woman artist Abida Ghlip is firstly the wife of well-known artist Kerim Nasirdin, secondly she is a gentlewoman, and then she is a very talented oil painter. For the three reasons above, I have come to know her and her works, which enabled me to compose what I felt and thought after seeing her paintings. What I write down is just an informal comment made by a layman, which is not supposed to be regarded as a formal discussion. However, we have every reason to believe that an extraordinary star in the oil painting world is rising. She is only 35, but her potential is unlimited.

I

Generally speaking, man’s art stresses on the beauty of strength and dynamic state, which is the beauty of the extended life. Nevertheless, this may not be so deep, and it may also give rise to the deficiency of the understanding of the deep meaning of life, while woman’s art pays more attention to the beauty of the tranquility, beauty of the loneliness and sadness. This is a very good supplement and an extension, because a woman is closer to the death—the birth is closer to the death.

II

Who says everybody loves beauty and recognizes beauty? The love for beauty is the nature of human beings and the earthliness of the society. But the recognition of the beauty is a course of discovery and an exploration and distillation. Recognizing the beauty is not so easy as loving the beauty. Therefore, love for beauty may become shallow, but the recognition of beauty must be a new ray of light.

III

Abida’s painting is quiet and introverted and agglomerating.. It is just like the agglomeration of the globules, which later change into the snow. Uyghur culture characterizes Abida’s painting, which is very much like Natasha in War and Peace, whose every movement and behavior reveals Russian culture.

IV

I refer most of Abida’s paitings of still life. She paints beautifully and elegantly. There are some pots, a bouquet of flowers, some pumpkins and melons and a knife and flowers as well. All these exhibit Abida’s tranquil brightness and sadness. Especially those flowers which are dropped off the vase catch the eye and they are really very touching. The painting makes you wonder and stimulates your imagination.

V

Abida is a genius, she is really different from other ordinary women. Her painting is full of meaning, and she is full of meaning as well. She keeps on observing the objects around her and studying and contemplating quietly. It seems like she doesn’t express her ideas in reality, she resorts to her paintings. Even in her paintings her ideas are conveyed implicitly. She seems just things only in the category of beautifulness and ugliness. All the other things are not so important. Is it possible to deal with the complicated world with such a simple mind? Is it possible for her to reach the summit of the mountain of art? We can expect. Probably Abida will be a success in her own unique style.

VI

Judging from all aspects, women seem more suitable for art creation. The have stronger awareness of life, a new life is given birth by them. Whether you are a man and a woman, you come from the body of a woman. Their love is unlimited and widely extended. They are more careful than men. We say a woman weaves, and they are more capable of weaving, while the art is just the result of weaving.

VII

But why is that the great arts at all times and in all lands tend to be created by men? It is very simple. Due to their low status in the society and the family, women were deprived of the chance and the condition to create. And they had no opportunity to widen their horizon got themselves involved in art creation. Women’s potential for art was suppressed and unable to display. Women had no right of speech. Occasionally, there were a few successful woman artists, who encountered a good chance and condition.

It is not that women had no talent, but that they had no chance.

The social formation of human is governed by men.

VIII

Fortunatelly, Abida has no lack of these. She has possessed objective condition the time she has possessed Kerim Nasirdin. She is his student. When Kerim lost hope of his recovery and felt quite lonely, she came into his life, bringing him the light of life. Kind-hearted, Abida has created a happy family.

Go on with your excellent painting, Abida. Now, you are beautiful, but will you remain your beauty when you get old? I have every confidence that when you get old, your oil paintings will become more beautiful.
