The oil painting "Warmth" was based on an event happened in the late autumn of 2013 (October 3) when General Secretary Xi Jinping visited Shi Qiwen, an extremely poor farmer, in Shibadong Village of Huayuan County which is inhabited by Tujia minorities during Xi's inspection in Tujia-Miao Autonomous Prefecture in west Hunan province in Wuling mountainous area–one of the 14 concentrated destitute areas. The painter made detailed study on the television scenes and photographs about this inspection and selected the moment when the General Secretary Xi Jinping has cordial conversation with Mr. and Ms. Shi Qiwen. The painter broke the limitation of realistic painting during creation and chose the most meaningful image as the topic. Since the Shis are illiterate and have no television, they didn't recognize the General Secretary, so the wife Shi Pa asked the General Secretary Xi Jinping: " What's your name?" , Xi smiled and answered "I am people's servant" and then held Shi's hand politely and said "You are my elder sister", which reflects General Secretary Xi's heartfelt affection to people in poverty-stricken areas. This is also the real reflection of Xi's requirement to party committees at all levels to help to alleviate poverty with correct target.

　　The painting has distinguishing national and time features because the painter combines the various expression techniques of western painting with the strong points of our national painting. The dark wall of the wooden house, the energy-saving light-the only electricity appliances of the home, General Secretary Xi surrounded by warm people, and people crowded excitedly outside the house, the older, the younger are depicted naturally and vividly in the painting. The most attractive scene is the charcoal brazier in front of General Secretary Xi and farmer Shi, which lights up the relationship between the leader and common people who talk to each other hand in hand and shows the sincere care of the leader to ordinary people's life. During the realistic painting, the painter utilizes traditional painting techniques with exact delineation and strong colors to form sharp contrast between people's faces and the wall and the ground, thus creating a warm and joyous atmosphere. At the same time, the painter takes initiatives in processing the original TV scenes artistically. As far as painting techniques is concerned, the painter strictly follows the sketch requirements of the western realistic painting and applies one-time representation combining classic transparent technique to fully embody the color- space relationship and the heavy texture effect of the painting. In the perspective of light and shadow, the painter adopts focus and concentration of light and shadow method to highlight the images, so the whole painting looks more vividly and the light and shadow contrast harmoniously, thus the viewers feel as if they were at the scene. The whole painting is ingenious, magnificent, warm and joyous, and perfectly expresses the deep bonds between the Party and the people.

　　This painting which embodies the great concern and warm care of General Secretary Xi's to people is considered as an outstanding masterpiece whether in the depth of thought, or in the artistic originality, which deserves treasuring. The title "Warmth" can really reflect the theme of the painting, thus becoming very fascinating.
