When someone is in the society for too long and too involved, he will be trapped by trivial things of life and take actual interest too seriously. He will be too practical and held back by prejudices. It will be hard for him to look at an issue thoroughly and rationally. He will not be somebody. That’s when one needs to think about withdrawing a little bit. Entering and withdrawing from the society are a life philosophy and a strategy. We are all supposed to withdraw ourselves from the society before we want to enter again to build a career. We need to have the wisdom of withdrawing before we get back into the society.

　　Liu Yanjun to me is more like a traveler than an artist. Being a modern artist alone when he first started and said he was so lonely and deep.

　　Even though he’s middle aged, he has always been very hard- working and even sacrifice sleep time. He also won many awards in 1990s. Every time when he’s going to the bull’s eye he gets it. Every time he gets it he gains more experience about humanity, human practices, human affairs and environment. He had some recognition and success. Such small amount of joy usually brings people like Liu Yanjun, who are not big yet, an overwhelming sense of happiness. I did not see that overboard joy in Liu but instead more confusion and his thoughts about the upcoming challenge.

　　I by chance converted to Buddhism. Since then I have worked very hard on repair myself in the concrete jungle and my personal struggle, waiting for the new life, hoping to someday runaway from the abyss and find nirvana.

　　His mending works lately were done at this type of mood. He was inspired by Chinese culture, looking to give it new meaning. The entire environment and the humanity walk hand in hand to follow his ideas that give modern aesthetics, Buddhism philosophy and modern material an abstract and clean context. Pure and shiny porcelain wares reflect the light and attract the surroundings and the visitors.

　　Porcelain made in extreme heat is pure, just like the person himself, hoping to escape the abyss and find nirnava.
