（美国设计师，戴维·卡逊 (David Carson)和他的《光速枪》（1992——1996），这杂志还真是非常有名！。。。学了这么长时间的平面，见到过的几乎每一本有关平面设计的书，如：版式设计，书籍装帧，等等。。。每一本几乎都有摘录他的《光速枪》页面设计，作为参考的范本。。。以前不知道是一个叫，戴维·卡逊 (David Carson)的人设计的，也不知道，这杂志叫《光速枪》。。。最近学习了《世界平面设计史》，才知道以前那些范本设计的由来。。。1992——1996年设计的《光速枪》，现在看起来还是很有现代感。。。可见那个差距，实在是“大”。。。）
。。。设计师戴维·卡逊 (David Carson) 是新杂志浪潮中的一个具有代表意义的设计家，他负责设计《世界滑板》（ Transworld Skateboarding,1983-1987 ）、《音乐家》（ Musician,1988 ）、《海滩文化》 (Beach Culture,1989-1991) 、《冲浪者》（ Surfer,1991-1992 ）和《光束枪》 (Ray Gun,1992-1996) 这些杂志，完全突破传统的套路，展现了新的设计风格，特别是依靠数码设计技术而发展起来的风格，重叠、拼合、紧凑和宽松的强烈对比、字体的颠倒和排列的表现、字体的形象化使用等外，都是非常具有开创意义的，连文字的栏目也采用曲折的、不工整的排列，实在很出格，引起广泛的注意，也有不少人喜欢这种新的设计。这种风格的最集中的例子是《光束枪》这份杂志的设计，把电脑作为版面和图像处理的唯一工具，使电脑的潜力得到最大的发挥，从而产生了使用传统手法无法达到、甚至是根本无法想象的效果。卡逊的一个重要的设计方法是采用了电影逻辑的方式来设计版面，画面是流畅的，并且从一页到另一页之间具有衔接的处理，把前后的页利用设计和图像连带起来，使之成为一体的方式，完全是套用了电影的方法（英语称为“ Cinematicpages ”），在平面设计中也是一个发展和推进。
。。。在卡逊担任《光束枪》总编的时候，他广泛接受具有探索倾向的插图画家和摄影师的作品，在杂志上刊登，每期都拨出上十页供他们刊登自己的摄影、插图作品和诗歌作品，这份杂志也就逐渐成为比较新潮的设计家的论坛和展示平台了。卡逊深信自己具有对传达设计的最好的了解，无论是传达的方式、传达的载体、传达的对象都控制得很好。 1996 年他离开了这份办了多年的杂志，开始为更需要大众传达的对象做设计，他的客户是可口可乐公司和耐克运动鞋公司，对于他为这些公司的设计成效自然是仁者见仁、智者见智，但是他在运用电脑技术上的娴熟和对于传达的房间强调则是公认一流的，他是一个平面设计的艺术家。

我回过头来，重新审视我原来的设计作品，《光束枪》、《海滩文化》。。。我震惊与在它们中有那么多的糟糕的页面设计，特别是《光束枪》。。。《海滩文化》几乎还能勉强硬撑着。。。但是《光速枪》，上帝！他其中，真的是有太多糟糕的版面了！
