Chinese artist Han Meilin is one of the most established in contemporary art; recently, he created the Fuwa, the mascot of the Beijing Olympic Games. Now he's completed a new major work.
"A Sealed Book" is actually a piece of painstaking research of the written language. For thirty years, Han recorded and compiled hundreds of emblems, marks, patterns and letters from animal bones, stone scriptures and murals. He then re-drew the characters, creating an extensive archive of the history of language. The works are considered an important contribution to the academic study of ancient Chinese characters.
