A mural by Vik Muniz at the 72nd Street station of the Second Avenue subway

　　2017年1月1日，纽约第二大道地铁线(Second Avenue subway)将开放运营，纽约州州长安德鲁·库默(Andrew Cuomo)日前在纽约现代艺术博物馆发表讲话，简要介绍了在政府1千亿美元的基础设施计划中的公共艺术部分。纽约基础设施建设包括肯尼迪机场及拉瓜迪亚机场大修、建造横贯纽约城市的公路等项目。而即将投入使用的第二大道地铁线，其4个站点将会在保证功能性的前提下，出现艺术家们绘制的马赛克壁画：萨拉·斯茨(Sarah Sze)在96街站，查克·克劳斯(Chuck Close)在86街站，维克·穆尼兹(Vik Muniz)在72街站，以及申吉恩(Jean Shin)在63街。库默称之为地下的“小美术馆”。
