Colombia is the largest source of South American immigrants to the United States and the 14th largest source of immigrants to the country as a whole. Most Colombian-born people in the United States can trace their migration histories to the 1980s and 1990s, when Colombia’s armed conflict and bloody international drug war reached their peak.

Many of these immigrants settled in Miami, which is now home to the largest Colombian diaspora in the country. Today, Colombian immigrants have heavily influenced Miami and its culture. Colombian music, food staples, and traditions have transcended the diaspora community and become part of the city’s identity. What aspects of Colombian culture do you like?
