　　欧洲当代舞台美术设计展

　　明当代美术馆致力于推动以视觉表演为基础的当代艺术活动，特别关注实验剧场和多媒体展演，并积极投入与表演概念相关各领域的研究、实践。本次，我们很荣幸携手国家大剧院、伦敦艺术大学、温布尔登艺术学院，推出“为表演而设计——欧洲当代舞台美术设计展”

　　作为表演的重要媒介，舞台美术是剧场的重要组成部分。本次展览邀请来自爱沙尼亚、英国、芬兰、法国、爱尔兰、意大利、荷兰、波兰、俄罗斯、瑞典、瑞士等国家的12家艺术机构选送的舞美设计作品，旨在全面展示崭新且具有探索性的当代欧洲舞台美术设计作品，呈现出舞台美术设计从构思到呈现的演化过程，让我们得以窥见当代欧洲舞台美术设计发展的最新动向。

　　同时，作为在美术馆空间呈现在展览，本次展览也将打开“舞台美术”作为表演性艺术作品本身的新面向。美术馆将在展览期间及此后的项目中继续讨论与表演概念相链接的各项活动，推进跨领域的深入实验和交流。

　　Evolving Design for Performance

　　European Contemporary Stage Design Exhibition

　　Ming Contemporary ArtMuseum is dedicated to the promotion of contemporary art activities based onvisual performance, with special focus on experimental theatre, multimedia exhibition and performance, as well as all the activities related to theconcept of performance. This time, we are honoredto present you the Evolving Design forPerformance exhibition with National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA)and Wimbledon College of Arts, University of the Arts London (UAL).

　　As an important mediumfor performance, the stage design is the backbone of the performing arts. Inorder to display European contemporary novel and exploratory stage design work, the exhibition selected the works chosen by 12European art institutions from Estonia, Britain, Finland, France, Ireland,Italy, Holland, Poland, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland, showing the evolutionof stage design from conception to production, as well as the distinctivevision and skills of European contemporary stage designers.

　　Meanwhile, as anexhibition presented in the space of an art museum, this exhibition gives a newvision of the “stage design” as performative art works as well. The Museum will continue to discuss thedivers activities related to the concept of performance during this exhibitionand with its next projects, and to promote the profound experimentation and interaction inthese diverse domains

　　展览介绍

　　伦敦艺术大学和国家大剧院已于2015年9月26日在中国国家大剧院举办“为表演而设计--欧洲当代舞台美术设计展”，参加首次展览的作品都是出自欧洲地区著名舞美设计师之手。参展作品均经过伦敦艺术大学和国家大剧院的精心甄选。

　　本次展览将集中呈现舞台美术设计从初期构思到完成作品的整个创作过程，涉及到戏剧和表演设计的方方面面。精心策划的展览如同“构思的花园”，向观众展示当前流行于欧洲地区风格迥异的舞台美术设计作品以及其之间的细微差别。内容将包括舞美设计草图、作品制作过程、模型和服装以及动画。

　　负责为此次展览挑选设计师和参展作品，以及策划展览的是著名的戏剧设计师和剧作家迈克尔·帕夫卡，他是温布尔登学院戏剧设计专业硕士班课程主任。此外还有舞美设计师和国际著名策展人彼得•法尔利——温布尔登学院戏剧设计专业高级讲师。参展作品的作者有理查德·哈德森(《狮子王》)、尼克·奥姆罗德、迪克兰·多内兰 (《紧密》)、托马斯·鲁伯特、迪米克里·科利莫夫 (科利莫夫实验室)以及其他来自欧洲著名的戏剧和表演艺术机构的设计师和同行。

　　Opening at National Centre for thePerforming Arts (NCPA), Beijing, China on 26 September 2015, Evolving Designfor Performance will be the first exhibition of its kind, showcasing worldclass designers for performance and the internationally renowned Europeaninstitutions from which they come, selected and curated by Wimbledon College ofArts, University of the Arts London and the National Centre for the Performing Arts.

　　Taking over the East exhibition hall inChina’stop national performing arts centre, the exhibition will put a spotlight on thedesign process from initial idea to final production and will cover the fullrange of Design for Theatre and Performance. In essence, the exhibition designand curation sees the show as a "garden of ideas" that alsoilluminates for a Chinese audience the differences and nuances of designapproach across Europe. The show will include drawings, process work, scalemodels and costumes, as well as moving images.

　　Curated by distinguished theatre designerand author Michael Pavelka, Course Director of Wimbledon’s MA TheatreDesign and designer and international curator Peter Farley, Senior Lecturer inTheatre Design at Wimbledon, the exposition will include work by Richard Hudson(Lion King), Nick Ormerod and Declan Donnelan (Cheek by Jowl), Thomas Rupertand Dimitry Krymov (Krymov Lab), amongst other high profile staff and alumnifrom leading European Theatre and Performance Design Academies.

　　此次国际展览旨在展示欧洲一流的以及最为流行的戏剧设计和舞台布景透视画法。它重点展现了一系列受邀的欧洲戏剧院校杰出校友的专业作品，以及这些机构里的工作人员和学生的精选作品。展览还要向大家展示形式丰富多样的制作方法以及流行于欧洲大陆的各种美学标准。

　　通过此次展览，我们希望能够呈现设计师是如何通过他们的构思来创造作品的，以及各项工作程序内在的关联性是如何影响整个创作过程的，即：从构思到纸上概念，最后再到真实的舞台实景。

　　“为表演而设计--欧洲当代舞台美术设计展”颂扬的是勇于实验、不惧风险和放眼未来的精神，以及当代欧洲在舞台设计教学与行业实践中所做的贡献。

　　Thisinternational exposition aims to show some of the best and most current theatredesign/scenography from across Europe. It highlights the professional work ofoutstanding alumni from a range of invited European theatre schools, collegesand academies and also presents a selection of staff and student work fromthese institutions. It also aims to demonstrate the rich diversity ofapproaches to making work and the full aesthetic range across Europe.

　　Inthis exposition we are hoping to communicate how a design comes into beingthrough the mind of a Designer for Performance and how the inherentcollaborative experience impacts on their process: from mind to page to stage.

　　EvolvingDesign for Performance celebrates experiment, risk taking, ambition and forwardthinking as well as a tribute to contemporary European professional theatredesign training and industrial practice.
