艺术家钟飙试图触摸时间的另一层含义，他说：“所有的未来已经发生，只等渐次抵达。过去和未来是一个已经存在的整体，我们经过时只是进入了这个整体的局部而已，一切早已存在，只有经过时显形。假如，时间是块蛋糕，一刀切下去，一边是过去，一边是未来，里面没有现在，现在在那把刀中，在拿刀的手上，在控制手的大脑里。事实上，没有人可以活在过去，也没有人能够置身未来，只有频频发生的当下才有体温，而过去和未来存在的全部意义，就在于激活我们的每一个当下。”

Artist Zhong Biao tries to figure out another meaning of time. As he said:“ All future things havealready happened, and all you need to do is just wait for its gradual arrival.” The past and thefuture are an existing whole, and we are just entering one part of the whole when we passingthrough it. Everything has already existed, it forms only at the moment that we passing. If time is acake, it’s just like when we cut it into two pieces with a knife, one piece is the “past”, the otherpiece is “now”, there is no “present” inside. The “present” is hiding in the knife, the hand that isholding the knife and the brain that is holding the hand. The truth is nobody can live in the past orfuture, the only warm thing is the “present” which constantly happens. And the whole meaning ofthe past and future's existence is to activate the present.”

钟飙的艺术正是基于这样的认知把时间空间化，然后用锋利的当下切开时间，释放出现实深处隐藏的形态。于是，面对他的作品，观众便不得不遭遇多重语境的切换：发散的当下、迷幻的后海、椅子的大局观、布达拉宫的轮回、潮流深处的鳄龟、煤矿的诗意、下海的枯树、春意的萌动、嬉戏的招财童子……这些看上去不太相干的具体形象，经过抽象语言的穿针引线，被有机连接，使得多维结构浑然一体，产生出强烈的视觉张力。同时，空间的相互叠加也让时间达到了再发生的效果。这种超文本链接的创作方法自由穿越，把现实世界的人生观与能量世界的宇宙观结合起来。

Conceived from such an understanding, Zhong Biao spatializes time in his artworks, cut time bythe sharp present, and release the forms that deeply hide in realities. So viewers have to face theswitchover of multiple contexts when watching Zhong’s works: the divergent present, psychedelicHouhai Lake, an overall view of chair, circle of the Polata Palace, the snapping turtle in deep tide,the poetry of coal, dry trees into the sea, sprouting spring, the playful lucky boy… these concreteimages are connected by abstract languages, make the multidimensional structural integrated,collide into intense visual tension. In the meantime, the superposition of multiple spaces makestime reach a kind of “recurrence” effect. This way of hypertext link creation freely passing through,combine philosophy in the real world and cosmology in the energetic world.

如果说，之前钟飙的绘画是从旁观者的⾓角度讲述了浩瀚的时空故事，那么，最新作品则⾃自成多维时空。为了使观众能够直观感受这种微妙变化，我们特地选取了艺术家2012和2015两个年份的作品并置展出，与两部真幻交集的影像作品⼀一道，共筑时空现场。

If Zhong's earlier paintings are telling stories about the great ocean of time from an outsider's pointof view, his latest paintings become multidimensional space time all on its own. We especiallychose to display the paintings that were created in 2015, alongside the paintings that he painted in2012 in order to make viewers feel these subtle changes on a deeper intuitive level ofunderstanding. Also on view are two imaginary videos, building space-time scene with thepaintings together.

钟飙的艺术需要观众以一种全新的方式去认知，正如他说所：“每一个当下，都是全部宇宙的临时结果。”这种时空一体化的大尺度认知，提供了广阔的背景，任观众的思绪经由当下切开时间，所到之处，生机勃勃……

Viewers need to recognize Zhong’s paintings with a new attitude. As he says: "Each present is justa provisional result of the whole universe." This large-scale cognition of integrated space timeprovides a broad background for viewers letting their minds cut time through the present.

艺术家简介

钟飙，1968年11⽉月11⽇日⽣生于重庆，1991年毕业于浙江美术学院（现中国美术学院）油画系。四川美术学院副教授，硕⼠士研究⽣生导师，中国美术家协会会员。现居北京。

Zhong Biao, born in Chongqing on November 11, 1968. Zhong Biao graduated in 1991 from the OilPainting Department of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now the China Academy of Art ). He is anassociate professor and master’s advisor at Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts, and a member of

China Artists Association. He lives in Beijing.

钟飙试图透过现实深处潜行的力量，来对历史与未来展开双向追问，并运用创新的美学语言，把现实世界的人生观与能量世界的宇宙观结合起来，在多维时空中建构现世的理想国。其视点与时俱进，视野与趋势同行。二十多年来，钟飙创造出一个个极具想象力的画面和艺术现场，业已成为中国文化新的视觉记忆。

Zhong Biao uses latent energies buried in the deepest recesses of the phenomenal world to opencareful examination that travels to both future and past. With a new aesthetic language, he finds anaccord between the disparate energies of the quotidian and the universal, building from them anideal nation amidst multidimensional spaces. His perspectives have advanced with time, while hisvision moves in concert with changing trends. For over twenty years, Zhong has created countlessindividual paintings and art happenings that have collectively established his work as a new site forthe visual production of contemporary Chinese cultural memory.
