三潴艺术画廊(Mizuma Gallery)来自东京。这个咱们还不太熟悉的画廊,4月底将在CIGE(中艺博国际画廊博览会)上盛装亮相。与此同时,三潴画廊在北京草场地的新空间也将高调开幕。到时候就等着瞧各方资源的共振效应吧。

老板三潴末雄先生(Sueo Mitsuma)出生于东京,毕业于成城大学艺术与文学系。在1990年代他即开始参与策划各式各样的展览。1994年,三潴先生成立三潴艺术画廊,并继续发现、支持和介绍年轻的日本和亚洲艺术家到国际艺术界。这些没有陷入目前的“风格”误区的优秀当代艺术家,个个带有独一无二的、有日本特色的个人情感,并且逐渐成长为有国际影响力的艺术家而今,三潴先生又把强有力的触角伸及中国,占领有利据点。且看他怎么说。

给我们简单讲讲19世纪50年代后日本现代艺术的发展和现状,好吗?

19世纪50年代日本在二战中失败后,本土艺术圈出现了一个新的运动,叫"Gutai"。在这个群落中(代表性的艺术家有Kazuo Shiraga),艺术家们否定当时存在的表现手法和艺术媒材,并创造出新的艺术形式。与此同时,“非正式艺术”运动的影响也从西方到达日本。于是出现了两种现象,一个是基于日本本土文化的艺术革新,比如像"Gutai",一个是受欧洲艺术(现在是美国艺术)的影响发展起来的支派。到目前为止,在我看来日本的艺术现状还是如此。

 

看起来,您代理的艺术家大多数都有典型的日本风格。这是您特意挑选的结果吗?还是年轻一代的显著趋势?

我猜,您说的这个典型日本风格是指受日本动漫影响的作品吧,如果此刻这个“典型”不是指“传统”艺术的话。至于我们代理的艺术家,他们的作品也许看起来的确有所谓日本的“典型”元素,但他们也会认真学习和借鉴于日本传统艺术大师。而且他们的作品,譬如比较主流的《Kano 学校》,还有比较亚文化的《Ukiyoe》等等,都折射出当代艺术的手法和观念,并给出新的诠释。在这个意义上,他们的作品是有别于“典型”的日本风格的。

 

您也在和中国艺术家合作。您觉得年轻的日本艺术家和中国艺术家有哪些不同?据说4月底,您即将在北京开设新空间,为何如此重视?

我确实正在中国艺术家中作一些调研,逐步了解他们。所以我此时此刻还不能说什么结论。正如你所讲,我正在北京开设一个新分支新空间。我想中国,北京,将成为亚洲文化和西方文化交汇的集结中心,就像网络中的HUB的角色。

 

近年来,随着全球化的进一步加深,越来越多的西方收藏家渴望了解真实的亚洲艺术现状。这也是为什么CIGE(中艺博国际画廊博览会)今年试图展现整个亚洲的艺术图景,特别是东亚和南亚板块。您能不能预测一下亚洲当代艺术和市场的未来?

在亚洲,如果国际性的双年展,比如说上海、新加坡、韩国、台北和横滨等,还有画廊博览会协同一批好画廊,这些力量集合起来,再加上为年轻艺术家设立新的和主要的艺术奖项,这将会在亚洲创建出真正的国际市场,以此吸引全球的收藏家、策展人和其他艺术人士。

 

作为CIGE 2008的参展画廊,您对博览会有什么期待?

我希望在博览会上遇到很多好的作品。另外,我们的新空间也会在CIGE期间在北京开幕。希望大家到时来参观并且喜欢优秀日本艺术家的作品。

1. Please give us a brief introduction on the thread of the modern art

 development since 1950s and the current situation of the Japanese art

 circle.

 

In 1950, after Japans defeat in the second World War, there was a new

 movement occured in Japan called "Gutai", in which the group, known forthe artist Kazuo Shiraga, of the artists deny existing expression and

 materials and created new form. of artwork. At the same time, the

 influence of "Art Informal" reached from the western world. There were two kinds, one persures the original japanese culture, like "Gutai" and the

 other one is developed under the infulence of western (Europe) art and

 then now American art (which is still new compared to those of Europe.) I think the situation now is still the similar.

 

2. It seems that most of the artists you represent have typical

 Japanese style. in their art. Is this the result of your selection or it is the

 obvious trend of the younger generation?

 

I guess, at the moment, typical Japanese style. means the work which

 has influence of Manga and Anime (animation), if "typical" doesnt mean"traditional". As to our artists, their works might seem "typical" but

 they learn and refer well to the old master of Japanese art and their

 artworks, such as "Kano school" as mainstream and "Ukiyoe" as subculture, and reflect the technique and concept in the contemporary art and giveit a new interpretation, and in that way, their works are differ from"typical" Japanese style.

 

3. You also cooperate with Chinese artists, whats the difference

 youve found between the emerging Japanese and Chinese artists?  It is saidthat you are going to set up a new branch in Beijing in the coming

 April.Why do you pay such attention to China?

 

I am in a middle of doing a research on Chinese artists and getting to

 know them, so I can not say much right now. As you say, I am setting upa new branch in Beijing, because I think China, Beijing, can be a

 central hub of art where the culture from Asian and Western country

 encounter.

 

4. In recent years, under the culture globalization, more and more

 western collectors are eager to get into the real situation of Asia

 art.Thats why CIGE this year tries to show the whole art panorama of Asia,especially the eastern and southern Asia. Could you please foretell the future of Asia Contemporary Art and the market?

 

In Asia, if the international biennnales such as in Shanghai,

 Singapore, Korea, Taipei and Yokohama and high quality artfair with good art gallery collaborate together with establishment of new and majorart prize for young artist, it would create international art market in

 Asia which attract collectors, curators and other art people from all

 over the world.

 

5.  As a participator, what fs your expection on CIGE 2008 art fair?

I look forward a encounter with many good artworks.
