Laughters, fresh air, rustling noises… A series of moving images from our daily lives play at a distance. The viewers are encouraged to sit on a tilted chair. The chair, sinking into blackness, places the viewer in complete isolation.
COVID-19. It distanced us from what we deemed ‘normal’. Moments that were once a part of us turned into moments that we could no longer reach. We were driven into isolation; our actions were often driven by fear.
Sitting on a tilted chair, we reflect on our moments in the dark. White water drops slowly bleed into us, one by one, revealing our feelings. F e a r : H e r e intends to recollect our moments of fear. The words on images portray each individual’s unique experience.
“one gentle step after another,
I set my feet into this hazy room,
feeling uncertain-”
“All I see is black-”
“It all sounds so vibrant. I look up,
searching for those moments.
but it wasn’t really here.”
“it is filled with moments
that approached me
as if it is a part of me.”
“Water drops slowly bled into me
yet deep down, I knew,”
“It was here that I finally faced Fear.”
Post-COVID-19 era. It begins with understanding our inner moments. At some point, we’ve all felt fear. We’ve all been unsure. No one is alone in this era. We all are in this together.
Our existence is strengthened by those that are near us. We may not be able to hold each other’s hands at all times — moments that we reminisce may not come back. Yet we can constantly remind ourselves: “I am not alone.” Essentially, we are all a part of this world that no one can fully control.
