第9届柏林双年展日前举行。本届双年展的主题为“The Present in Drag”，由艺术小组DIS担任策展人，尝试去具体化那些正在逐渐构成世界的各种悖论：虚拟与现实，民族与标签，人与数据，文化与资本，健康与政治活动，幸福与GDP等等。

　　在“自相似性”——也就是在他人的身上看到了我们自身的数字化的反射——日益生长的时期，“自我”的概念演变成了什么?本届双年展把自己打造为“一个让自我的表演者来演绎她自身的退化的舞台”，它是一场充满了自我认识、自我意识以及自我指涉的展览，而显然策展人也不希望画下分界或是评判的线条。

　　“我们并没有进行传统意义上的反抗，”DIS的成员Marco Roso说，“因为我们处于一个最矛盾的时代中。”正如围绕在Cécile B. Evans的影像作品“What the Heart Wants”(2016)的展出现场周围的水池一样——在媒体预展期间，许多观众最后都掉进了水池中——DIS反射并且放大了其所处于的环境。他们打造的双年展将时代思潮设计为一代人的文化视角(大多数参展艺术家都出生于70年代末至80年代，并且以纽约或柏林为创作基地)，充满了合作的美学，深受网络生活的机能障碍的困扰——包括网络中的虚假、利己主义、自我标榜、假想的乐观以及情绪的脆弱。
